Medan – Thursday (May 15, 2025). PT Prima Pengembangan Kawasan (PT PPK), a subsidiary of PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (PT PSL) under PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) (Pelindo Group), warmly welcomed the delegation from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in Medan during their official visit to Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra.
The purpose of this visit was to directly observe the port infrastructure developments and explore potential economic and investment cooperation between Indonesia and China, particularly in the maritime and logistics sectors.
The visit was attended directly by the Consul General of the PRC in Medan, Mr. Zhang Min, who was received by representatives from PT Pelindo and the management of PT Prima Pengembangan Kawasan (PT PPK) as the manager of the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Area. In his remarks, Zhang Min expressed his interest in the strategic role of the port in supporting regional maritime connectivity.
“Kuala Tanjung holds great potential as a logistics and industrial hub. We see opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure development, trade, and future investments,” said Zhang Min.
The visit activities included field inspections of the port area, container terminal, and the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Area, as well as an open dialogue on cooperation opportunities involving investors and business players from China.
Representatives from PT Pelindo stated that this visit marks a positive step in attracting foreign investors and strengthening the position of Kuala Tanjung Port as one of Indonesia’s national strategic projects. The visit also helps to deepen diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China, in line with the Belt and Road Initiative which promotes cross-border connectivity development.
With continuously developing infrastructure and strong government support, Kuala Tanjung Port is expected to become a key gateway for international trade in the western region of Indonesia.
