Strengthening the Kuala Tanjung Logistics Ecosystem, PT PPK and PT PIL Establish Cooperation for Container Depot Development

Medan, 03 June 2026 – PT Prima Pengembangan Kawasan (PT PPK) has established a strategic partnership with PT Prima Indonesia Logistik (PT PIL) regarding the planned utilization of land within the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Estate (KIKT) as a container depot. This collaboration forms part of the efforts to strengthen an integrated logistics ecosystem while enhancing the added value of the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Estate.

The cooperation was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This milestone also represents the initial step toward optimizing the utilization of the KIKT area as one of the strategic logistics hubs in North Sumatra.

Representing PT Prima Pengembangan Kawasan, the event was attended by Acting Director Sutanto, accompanied by Senior Manager of Engineering Budi Setiadi and Acting Senior Manager of Business Development, Marketing, and Risk Management H. B. Sumartin Pasaribu. Meanwhile, PT Prima Indonesia Logistik was represented by Acting President Director Ichwal Fauzi Harahap, Director Indra Pamulihan, General Manager of Operations and Business Andri Lesmana, along with members of the management team.

The utilization of land within KIKT as a container depot is expected to support the enhancement of logistics service capacity, facilitate the flow of goods distribution, and improve operational efficiency in the Kuala Tanjung area and its surrounding regions. Furthermore, this development is expected to strengthen connectivity among logistics nodes while encouraging the growth of industrial and trade activities.

Acting Director of PT Prima Pengembangan Kawasan, Sutanto, stated that this cooperation represents a strategic step in optimizing the potential of the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Estate.

“Through this collaboration, we hope that the utilization of land within KIKT will generate significant added value while supporting the strengthening of an integrated and sustainable logistics ecosystem,” he said.

In line with this, Acting President Director of PT Prima Indonesia Logistik, Ichwal Fauzi Harahap, stated that this cooperation forms part of the company’s efforts to enhance logistics service capacity and quality.

“We are optimistic that the development of a container depot within KIKT will improve operational efficiency while making a positive contribution to supporting the smooth flow of logistics in the Kuala Tanjung area and its surrounding regions,” he remarked.

The cooperation between PT PPK and PT PIL reflects the commitment of both companies to strengthening synergy among affiliated entities while supporting the development of a modern, integrated, and highly competitive logistics-based industrial estate.

Going forward, both parties will conduct further studies and prepare phased implementation measures to ensure that the container depot development plan can be carried out optimally and deliver long-term benefits, both for the companies and for the overall development of the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Estate.

Through this collaboration, PT PPK hopes to continue playing an active role in promoting the sustainable development of industrial estates while supporting the strengthening of the national logistics sector as one of the key pillars of economic growth.
