Medan, April 02, 2024 — In the framework of the 72nd Anniversary of the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University held a public lecture with the theme “General Overview of Shipping Law: Indonesia.” This activity itself was carried out online via the Zoom platform. This activity was opened by Prof. Dr. Hamzah Halim, S.H., M.H., M.A.P, as the Dean of the Faculty of Law, at Hasanuddin University. As a form of support from PT. PPK in the world of education, Mr. Dr. Akhirman, S.H., M.H., CLA. as the President Director of PT. PPK became a resource person in this public lecture.
In this Public Lecture, Dr. Akhirman, S.H., M.H., CLA., expressed his pride in being able to attend and accompany the participants in today’s public lecture. He said that as a young generation, students are considered important to respond to every change that occurs because current conditions do not allow them to only focus on sciences that have so far only been legal people such as civil, criminal, and other fields whose professions are only the competence of legal people. He also stated that every legal person has the opportunity to survive in other professions, one of which is in the maritime sector, which if studied has important elements with law, one of which is his dissertation study entitled Legal Politics of Commercial Port Management which also discusses maritime affairs compared to several countries related to Port management. The point is to be adaptive to such massive changes, especially for the younger generation who get various conveniences to obtain sources of knowledge which is a very big opportunity. With the material presented, the participants of the public lecture showed high enthusiasm by asking various questions related to the existing topics. Such as maritime security issues, the role of the private sector in marine management, illegal fishing, overlapping authority at sea, and the shipping industry. (02/04)
